Let's Merge With IBEW 2034!
Calling on all AMHSSE Sisters and Brothers, tell AMHSSE President Grant Wiebe we'd like to vote on an AMHSSE/IBEW merger.
What We Gain:
Wages have eroded over the last 10 years. We would need an immediate 12–14% wage hike to be at par for Dec. 31, 2025, with yearly increases matching IBEW after. This is unlikely with AMHSSE's current bargaining power.
Gain a full time union employed, dedicated, immediately available representative, with access to an in house lawyer, the combined experience of multiple reps and no employer conflicts of interest.
Solidarity. A merger increases the total membership to approximately 3500 members. With recent provincial anti-scab legislation, this gives greater negotiating power and labour action impact.
What We Lose:
We lose nothing, we only gain!
There are going to be lots of questions, lots of details to be worked out, but this is the first step and provincial labour law supports it.
Tell our AMHSSE President we want this, we want these discussions to happen, the details to be worked out and the questions answered.
